Cam Gears

Are there cam gears for the LT1. I was searching but couldn't find anything about that.

I know Edelbrock makes cam gears, noisy gears, for BBC. But, how about LT1.

You mean timing gears? None that I am aware of since they would drive the knock sensors wild.

Yeah but there is such a thing as timing gears with no chain and that is what he was asking about. Heck some HD BB aplications used big gears so they directly interfaced with no idler and the cam spun backwards(obviously ground backwards too).

No, we dont have timing gears (no standard distributor)

What does that have to do with anything, and besides our cam does have a gear that in a gen1 drives the oil pump and distributor in our cars it just drives the oil pump.

In stock form our motors use a timing chain with a sprocket on the crank and cam, he is asking about changing that to be all gears, which is something made for gen 1 motors. Does that clear anything up?

Was just eliminating a possibility. Was a pretty vague question.

Talking

The only name for it is timing gears. I didn't say timing set or timing chain, just gears.

Cloyes makes a slightly oversized cam gear to remove slack in the stock chain. They also make the stock chain. Lunati makes gears and a timing set.

Cloyes and EX motorsports (CMotorsports.com) and others make double-roller gears/chains that fit with a modified timing cover. I run one and it's great
