Recently when I put the car in reverse and start to move a pop will emit from the near the right rear wheel. When I put it first after reversing a pop will also emit occasionally. But if I put it in first from a stop at say a stop sign it makes no noise. I havent really looked at it closely yet but Im guessing its suspension related. The car has new rear shocks.

Possibly your driveshaft yolk. Maybe it's loose so when the driveshaft turns in the other direction while reversing it clunks until it reaches a stop. Then when you go in the other direction while going back to first it clunks til it reaches a stop.
