A/C questions
I just ordered a compressor and evap canister from another member here. Assuming that it works. What is the easiest way to swap compressors? I know that I need new o-rings (which one/where). But what do I have to disconnect to get the old one out and the new one in? Thanks, all....

okay, ive done this one (well taken the compresor off anyways). so ill see if i can help at all. as far as gaskets go, go to your local auto shop to get those. make sure you bleed your system before trying to take anything loose. i took the low pressure line off at the condensor and at the top left hook up in the engine bay. i believe you can leave it connected to the compressor. i dont remember everything, but i did it my first time without that much trouble or knowledge on doing it. take the engine belt off. i think theres a couple bolts on the rear of the compressor. take those out. theres also a couple bolts in the front. i think one sits behind the tensioner pully when the belt is off. when the compressor is off, take off the low pressure line and pull the rubber gaskets off. (note: i took my low pressure line off before i freed the compressor, its not too difficult to do that way. only thing is is that you cant take the line out without moving the compressor.) dont forget to put your new rubber gaskets back on the low pressure line. bolt it back to the compressor. and put the compressor back the same way you took it off. hook up the low pressure line back at the condensor and push the line back up past the radiator and hook it up where you took it off. (pretty obvious, i'm sure. i'm just trying to make sure i cover everything.) now i've never taken the evaporator off. but it does look like a fairly simple job. take and unhook the lines. replace the gaskets on the new one. hope this helps. let me know if i missed anything or got confusing anywhere. later.

Yes. Use the PAG oil to "prime" the compressor before you put it otherwise it's harder to re-charge the system w/o damaging the compressor. The shop manual has a procedure for doing this. I would also recommend having an AC shop evacuate to get out any remaining debris and then re-charge the system unless you have the equipment.
