Question burning plug wires

ok..... i own a '94 Camaro Z28. i have a few mods including: cold air induction, granatelli mass air, edelbrock 52 mm t-body, msd 6a ignition, msd blaster coil, hooker super comp headers& y-pipe, lt-4 knock sensor, power programmer, hypertech underdrive pulley, mcleod clutch, and a hollowed cat along with a borla catback exhaust. the big problem i'm having is keeping a set of good plug wires on the car from burning. i've gone through 3 sets in about 6 months of 8.5 msd wires. the first set i didn't know any better, the second i tried diff. routing, and the third i wrapped in heat resistant tape along with header wrap. now none of this has helped for i keep burning the wires on the passenger side of the car.....my next step is to by wires i'll have to cut myself and route with looms along the valve covers.

I know its the headers burning the wires but I need some suggestions as to what brands to look for as far as wires and looms. and what to get to keep the boots and wires from either melting or getting brittle and breaking.....i would greatly appreciate any suggestions or help as far as what to get and where to get them......thanks guys!!!!!!!

Had that problem but then I switches to morroso 8mm spiral cores and have not had a problem yet. They come precut and Not one of my wires touch and no lumes are needed.

I also have moroso wires, that are in the stock locations where possible, and come VERY close to my headers.NONE of the wires or boots have burned at all...Knock on wood...

If you haven't routed the wires over the valve covers yet, I'd give that a try. I recommend Made For You Looms, you can pick them up from http://www.summitracing.com for around $40.

EDIT: I corrected Made

EvilBox meant, MADE For You Looms. May make searching for them easier.

I am using these looms but I would recommend going with some custom length wires (like Taylor) and cutting your own to fit. I use this set-up on my 396 with Hooker Long tubes and I only have one plug (#5) that even comes close to the header. Wrapped that one with heat tape and it's been perfect since the install.

Going over the valve covers makes life SOOO easy when it comes to pulling off your wires to check plugs etc. This whole process may cost you a few bux in the beginning but the good news is, you'll do it ONCE and not have to shell out more money to buy new wires everytime you burn up a set. My $.02
