if it were me on a budget, id get a scat 9000 cast steel crank and use that savings and focus on the weight on the crank aka rods and pistons. a scat pro comp i beam in 6" form and a light set of forged mahle or comparable pistons will be way better off then the lead weight hyper pistons and a 5.7 rod. there will be less strain on the crank and rod throughout the rpm range and will be truly bulletproof with the right parts selection. a sbc crank is not a weak link, they are a pretty strong design, the forces on it at 6500rpm; a few grams off will feel like a few hundred pounds less to the crank when its revved.

If you guys have part #'s and costs of your set ups that would be greatly appreciated. Any advice on doing this would help out tons too.
If you are going to spend money anywhere, spend it on the crank and heads.

I went with a Callies Dragonslayer crank and LE2 heads.

Then just SRP pistons and Eagle rods.
