Broke a sensor during LT installation

Me and my buddy started working on my new exhaust this weekend. When we started pulling off the driver side manifold we broke a sensor on the side of the driver head. We are thinking maybe a coolant sensor or something but arent really sure. If anyone knows what its proper name is or maybe has a diagram and could post it that would be much help. thanks

Yep, that's the sensor which feeds the dash gauge. They're under $20 at a local autoparts store. Make sure you bring it with you, as they'll list two coolant sensors/sending units. One is the one you broke, and the other is in the water pump (it feeds the PCM the coolant temp).

broke mine to when i installed my long tubes by myself. have the new sensor ready when you take the old one out, because tons of coolant is going to pour out.

Yup I did it to. Its the coolant sensor for the temp gauge.
Easy fix.

Re: Broke a sensor during LT installation

hrmm guess i picked up the wrong one, the sensor i got looks just like the one i broke off, but the pin setup is different. The title on the one i got says temperature coolant sensor, so i guess im needing one that specifically mentions temp GAUGE sensor?

Re: Broke a sensor during LT installation

Ask them to look up a "Sending Unit" instead of sensor, and you should get the right one.
