Re: Breather Cap on valve cover?
The check is installed to prevent boost from entering the vacuum hose.
It will be a one way check so blow or suck on it to find out which way.
OK get ya mind out of the gutter.

Re: Breather Cap on valve cover?
I know this may sound overly simplistic, but for the guys who are experiencing the problem of having oil sucked into their intakes, would it be possible to install an inline check valve into the hose that runs from the throttle body to the valve cover? (So that air may flow FROM the throttle body to the valve cover, but nothing may flow BACK in the opposite direction?)
Re: Breather Cap on valve cover?
The system was intentionally designed by GM for the vent line to reverse flow in cases where the crankcase pressure exceded the capacity of the PCV system. If you block the vent line with a check valve, you run the risk of the crankcase pressure building up and blowing the dipstick out of the tube, or causing oil leaks at seals.
