Lightbulb Bolt on 400HP+....How???

I need some feed back from anyone out there owning a 93-97 Z28 with enough mods to put out atleast 400 HP. Starting with a new cam....Oh and by the way, does anyone know what size studs are on the stock rocker arms??? Any response would be helpful...

Studs are 3/8 up top, 7/16 into the head.

Are you talking flywheel or rear wheel hp? If you're talking flywheel, it'd be easy with a cam. Rear wheel, you're talking big cam/hogged out heads.

It has been done many times with GOOD heads and a cam, headers, exhaust, tuning, etc... Or you could bypass the headwork, get cam, basic bolt-on's and forced induction, but I wouldn't expect it to last as long as going NA.

Cam selection depends on how fast you want to go and how streetable you want it.

If you're just looking for 400hp you could go with an XE 224/230 camshaft. You also need to port the heads and get proper tuning.

Add headers and exhaust and possibly gears.

The rockers use a stock 3/8" stud.

Speaking of, I'll letcha know about how close I come. I'm having that above cam with the .536/.544 lift with 1.6 rockers going in. Car should be running friday, and I should have dyno numbers Monday or Tuesday. I don't think I will make it, but I should see easy 380's at the wheels. Plus a fat torque curve.

No, Joe Prince is doing my heads. He says he flowed them today and they were flowing about 275 intake at the cams lift.

Well, I'd figure on bigger injectors, we're putting 30#ers in mine. I'm going to see how the stock pump does, and if it's not up to the task, then I'm going to get a racetronix 255lph. That should do the trick.

I'm actually considering getting one of the higher lift 224/230's and holding off on the rest of the install until that comes in. I'm just wondering how much that would help. There's like three different 224/230 grinds with different lifts, and I've got the smallest one. Maybe I'll just go with a 236/242 after I get through emissions later this month.

I wouldn't put in this cam and changing to a bigger cam at the end of the month unless you like pulling your motor apart. A 236/242 will be pretty much unstreetable with a 350, maybe a 383. The nice thing about this cam is the HUGE torque curve. On top a bigger cam may make 20 more horse though but would need to be revved to 6500rpm or higher.....on a stock shart block that may not be a good idea. IMO you made a good chioce but I'm biased.....

Well I wasn't going to do it right away. I could be happy with 380-390 at the wheels. Then again, there's no such thing as too much!!!
