Bad machine job
Well, I got my block back yesterday, and it had a few things about it I didn't like. The Machinist(or one of his workers) dropped two of my brand new pistons, one of my freeze plugs is not completely installed, and my number 1 cam bearing was all scratched up. Funny thing is he told me they didn't do any freeze plugs and refunded me my money, he didn't do a few things we had marked for him to do and I am just not anywhere near pleased with the work. Not to mention that tonight when I was installing the crank to check the clearance I found that they F'ing align bored the damn thing with a main cap backwards!
I went back over this morning and talked to him and, he stands by his work, saying that the cam bearing was fine, he took a file to my new piston and says "its fine", and I just found the freeze plug, and main cap problems this afternoon while I was assembling the shortblock. You would think if you dropped very close to $1000 in a man's shop he would take care of your stuff. The ASE master tech I work with said it was the worse machine job he has ever seen in 30 years.
I have decided it is in my best interest to seek legal action if he doesn't replace my pistons, #1 cam bearing, re-align bore the block..... Ah the hell with it, I don't think he is capable of doing it.... he already f-cked it up once. I'll alteast get my money back for the stuff that needs redone. So .... the LT1 stays broke.
