Blue Stripe Beehive Springs

OK, I've done a search and can't find any specifics regarding the proper valve springs I should use for the LT1 motor I'm building. I have a friend that has a set of new Comp Cams springs with a blue stripe on them. (don't know their part number) I thought I once heard to stay away from the blue stripe springs (?) Anyone know why? If I should avoid these what springs should I buy. I have purchased a Comp Cams 503 cam and 1.6 Pro Mag rockers.

If you want to play it safe avoid blue stripe beehives like the plague, they may be the good ones or they might be the ones that break.

The new beehives dont have the strip I think.

Yeah, I'd take Bret's advice on this one.

Forgive me for being a moron - but what are PAC 1218's? Who makes them? I can probably get them from Summit or Jegs, correct? Again, sorry for being an idiot about this. Thanks for all the help.

No Summit and Jegs don't sell them... only dealers or straight thru PAC.

Long story short..... up till 2006 PAC (Petersen Spring) made all the springs for Comp Cams, including the 26918 beehive. From 2006 on is when Comp had problems with the 918 springs because they changed suppliers. They are the actual company that makes the springs, not just another company who retails them.

Maybe, give them a call.
Here's what the new 918's look like. My dad's going to run them in his LS1 car when he puts a cam in it.

Yep. I got a set of blue stripe 918's and emailed comp cams.

They sent me replacement springs overnight, and i shipped mine back. The new ones look like the ones speed_demon24 posted.

What's the main problem? Is it breakage only, or do they get weak and lose their seat pressure?
