Re: blown head gaskets

if you blew a head gasket, the heads are probably warped. not a big deal, they can be resurfaced, but even if they can't be.. new set wont set ya back more than $150-200.

Re: blown head gaskets

I did my head gaskets on my Z in April and wondering when the T/A is going to blow. When I did the Z I took the heads to the machine shop and they were warped slightly, had them totally reworked. Also just finished doing my nephews 93 3.8 V6 T-bird head gaskets and those heads were warped as well. My opinion..... if they are aluminum heads and a head gasket fails, they are warped. Its definately worth the machine shop charges and its also piece of mind knowing that you are going through all that trouble to repair car and you are putting good set of heads on.

Re: blown head gaskets

It's always a good idea to have the heads checked when they're off the car whether they are iron or aluminum.

Milling the head flat should be ~$30/head unless they are badly warped.
