www.corvette.com states that an auto (same as used in our cars) is .3 slower than a manual 6
0–60 mph, Man. Trans. (sec.) 4.6 (manual), 4.9 (auto)

I doubt it

There is less drivetrain power loss in an M6 over an AUTO. Therefore they will be faster if driven correctly...
if driven correctly...
AUTOs are more consistent in the 1/4 mile.
And an M6 with slicks will be faster than an AUTO with slicks (bone stock) this is because of being able to launch at a higher RPM and the fact that the rear gears will be taller...

You know what. I just want to say sorry to the thread starter. I just realized how far off topic this thread has gotten and I am a big contributer to that. I didn't even realize that I was doing it...
I am sorry.
I am sorry.
way to go stupid!
anyways, i think he got the point. you just need to put it in drive, push the gas. there is no trick to it. if you want to try overdrive then do it, but personally i think thats slower. after you get some mods its a different story for launching and such

no need to feel sorry, i got my answer, and im happy with it......NOW, i have a yet another question, so what is the best way to launch the car, like say powerbrake it, how much should i rev it to, before i launch., i happen to have the ****tiest tires in the world, theyre fuldas, and there is shameless wheelspin at every light... cant wait for my 555r's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
on an automatic you should never rev in neutral and throw it into gear if thats what you're asking. if you want to know if you should hold the brake while you rev it up a little i dont know that it will make much difference with those tires you have.
when you get the new ones you will just need to practice with them. i cant tell you that your perfect launch will be at 1200rpms or anything like that. just go down the track several times and figure things out. when you get new tires you WONT need to burnout in the wetbox because street tires are not meant to heat up, they have preventative stuff to keep them from doing so. only drag radials and slicks need to be heated. just get up to the light, watch it carefully, and dont pound the pedal to the floor to avoid spin
