Best posi unt?
Depends on how you plan on using it. I went through a couple of Auburn Pro units with the stock rear but I was making abour 400 strip passes per year on it too. With the 12 bolt I went with the 800 pound Eaton unit. I have heard both pro and con about the smaller Eaton for the stock rear.
Well...the poor thing has been through hell and back.
It's been bolted to 4 different gearsets, upwards of 200 passes at the strip on street tires and slicks, donuts and powerslides galore, a bad spare tire incident (donut on one axle, regular tire on the other), and it's been between the axles for 3 years. I'd say it held up pretty nicely! What I like most is that it's rebuildable. If it fails, new springs and clutches are only $48 from Drivetrain Direct, or Eaton directly. I HIGHLY recommend it, and my rebuild kit should arrive within a few days.
