need a posi for my car.. Auburn? Eaton? Detroit Lockers? are they all pretty much the same?

I have an Eaton. It has held up sofar. It has carbon fiber clutches.

Depends on how you plan on using it. I went through a couple of Auburn Pro units with the stock rear but I was making abour 400 strip passes per year on it too. With the 12 bolt I went with the 800 pound Eaton unit. I have heard both pro and con about the smaller Eaton for the stock rear.

i ordered my Eaton today for $330! i believe since these are clutch packs, i'll need the LSD additive? The Torsen didnt need it..

You should always use the additive...

I too have an Eaton, and it just took a dump on me a few weeks ago. It's nice to know that they are fully rebuildable for under $50 also!

how long or how much abuse before it took a dump? do you recommend the unit?

Well...the poor thing has been through hell and back.

It's been bolted to 4 different gearsets, upwards of 200 passes at the strip on street tires and slicks, donuts and powerslides galore, a bad spare tire incident (donut on one axle, regular tire on the other), and it's been between the axles for 3 years. I'd say it held up pretty nicely! What I like most is that it's rebuildable. If it fails, new springs and clutches are only $48 from Drivetrain Direct, or Eaton directly. I HIGHLY recommend it, and my rebuild kit should arrive within a few days.
