Re: Best plugs and wire for stock motor?

I went back with the AC Delco Platinum plugs and a set of ACCEL Extreme 9000 wires. Runs great!

This is a brand new motor through GM, so I wonder if it makes a difference what plugs and wires I use?

I put Taylor Spiro-Pro wires and Delco plugs back in when it was almost stock and had 125k miles. It runs like a champ and am getting upwards of 28-29 mpg on the highway now with 158k.

I don't suppose it really matters for a stock motor but I personally would get accell extreme 9000 because there suppost to have a much higher heat tolerance (good for headers if you get em)

I've heard the Accel wires handling the heat from headers better than the Taylors.

I've been using the NGK Tr55's, and the Taylor OTVC kit from Thunder for some time now and am happy with them.

As funny as it may sound to some, if I needed to do wires on my modded engine, I would buy a set of stock GM wires. I also use AC Delco platinums although I've used NGK TR5 plugs in the past and they worked well. Considerably cheaper too.

I agree. The stock GM wires and AC Delco platinums are the best way to go. I just bought them and woke my 136k LT1 up

My mechanic strongly recomended NOT to install the msd wires. I bought those originally and ended up taking them back. I gave you the stock plug wire #'s
