best place to get LT4 stuff

so a friend is lookin around for some LT4 stuff for a 94 z28 and i have been looking around for the best place to get everything to make conversion. i have found the whole kit for 2400 or i have found just the heads for 680 and then the hotcam kit for 500, but i cant find just the intake. it seems like it would be cheaper to just buy the heads, hotcam kit with springs and rockers and all and then just buy and lt4 intake i would imagine they would cost around 4-5oo? anyway where is a good place to get an lt4 intake, better yet can you just use an lt1 intake or will you give up too much power. well thats about it for my rambling mess of questions, anyone got any input? the cheaper the better.

Summit sells the LT4 intakes individually.

Re: best place to get LT4 stuff

The LT4 intake is not that much different from the LT1 intake and it's primary "advantage" is more meat to allow it to be ported to match the LT4 heads. The LT1 intake will not perfectly boltup either it or the heads would need a small amount of machining. That said I would strongly recommend more research. The LT4 stuff can work but is nowhere near the pinacle of LTX performance those new to this have been lead to believe.

That 680 price is for EACH head, not the pair. Like 96capricemgr said, with 2400 to spend, your friend could do a whole lot better looking at other parts besides the LT4 stuff. The LT4 stuff is a little better then stock that's all.

Here's one
It even has the throttle body and fuel rails . Seriously tell your friend to spend his money else where if he wants a head cam setup. There are several better choices out there than the LT4 setup( and cheaper)

Re: best place to get LT4 stuff

Let me clarify things a bit about the LT4 setup. It's not a bad kit at all, it's just way overpriced for what you get out of it. The heads are 195cc in size and flow decent (250ish @.500), but EVERY aftermarket head except maybe the Edelbrock will outflow it. Just about EVERY mildly ported stock head will outflow it too. The hotcam is on the mild side also. You could step up to a more aggresive cam and still maintain driveability. The springs that come with the kit are good up to .525 lift. That is what the valves are lifted to with the hotcam, not much room for error. The intake is marginally better than an LT1 intake, but it is an added expense because the LT1 intake ports don't line up well with LT4 heads. Do a search on here or hit up the supporting vendors listed on here for thier porting services. IMHO the only way I would ever buy LT4 stuff, is if they seriously lowered the prices. The heads should be 800-900 assembled, intake should be 150, cam 125, rockers and springs 150, maybe the whole kit around 1300-1500. Then it would be worth it.
