1.7 Rockers

Will these fit under the stock valve covers? If not can they be modified? Do i need to buy new covers? Where would be a good place to get them?

Re: 1.7 Rockers

No, 1.7s will not fit under the stock valve covers. Some have reported modifying the stock covers enough to get them to fit, but it involves a lot of cutting and hammering the sides out to clear them. I am getting ready to put Scorpion 1.7s on my car, and bought the LT4 valve covers to use. Not sure if I will have to modify the LT4 covers at all, but will know here in a couple of weeks.

Here are a couple threads you should read through:

Yes, they do fit! . The supports need to be removed and the circular braces at the bottom of the supports need to be modified because they will not fit between the rockers. Other than that, they will wit. No pounding of any sort was required.

Re: 1.7 Rockers

Nice, so you didn't have to dimple the sides of the covers? That's great news ... hopefuly I won't have to do very much at all to the LT4 covers to clear them.

BTW: Where did you get your Scorpions from, and how many miles have you put on them so far? Any issues at all after the install?

flatlanderracing.com? Something like that. I have 20-25k on them and everything seems to work fine. I did not have to dimple the sides.

Re: 1.7 Rockers

I had to cut the supports on my lt1 valve covers and hammer the top outwards to clear..

Will they clear lt4 covers with out hammering??

Re: 1.7 Rockers

They fit stock covers fine.

If anybody wants to wait about a week I'm selling mine that have about 4k on them for $150 shipped. Perfect condition.

Thats good to hear, i think i might just keep my hot cam and use 1.7 rockers instead of just buying a little bit bigger cam.

Re: 1.7 Rockers

Not sure if they will clear the LT4 covers without shaving .... but hammering isn't an option being they're carbon fiber.
