Actually Mobil 1/ K&N oil filters are the best- about $10-13 a filter though

 

I usually used the Wix or Delco specified for the motor.
The shop building my 383 suggested I use a NAPA Gold 1060 for the extra oil capacity and surface area.
(I suppose the equivalent Delco or filters would have the safe effect)

Never .. ever Fram.
It's not just an internet rumor, I've seen those things fall apart.

Don't know where you read that.
All of the tests I've seen made those two (and the PureOne) out to be nothing more than a standard filter with a heavy pricetag.
Oh, and the K&M has a nut welded the top ... yippee....

Fram is the worst filter you can get. I've had many of them colapse on my camaro's.

I run WIX, K&N, Mobil 1, AC Delco, Microgaurd, and NAPA filters.

 

Can't believe how many people are running fram.

 

The regular Fram sux. The HP is good.

the AMS OIL rep told me that if you can't get a AMS OIL filter then to use a WIX because they filter a high micro amount...

I've never seen a Fram (HP1) racing filter collapse. On the other hand, I have personally experienced the failure of an over-the-counter Fram filter and I've seen several others that have failed. Most of the failures have involved synthetic oil and cold-weather starts on engines with race clearances. We do not typically use thicker weight oil than 5-30 and often it's lighter than that. Moroso, NAPA, Wix seem to hold up OK but I'm encouraging the use of reusable units such as System 1 or Trufilter on race motors these days.

 

Wix here. Work part time in auto parts and have had several people come in and talked about the horror stories of a Fram filter collapsing and loosing a motor. I try to steer people away from them

 

Yes, it is their "racing" filter (HP1, HP2, etc.).

Fram, was not thinking when I bought it. Im going to be useing napa gold/wix.

 

Have you ever tried a napa gold before posting this? I've used all the best from k&n to mobil 1, and the napa gold is by far the best. I get atleast 5psi more with the napa gold then any other filter i've ever tried.
