Depends how you define best.

The standard Fram are the worst but after that are you looking for lack of restriction or a filter that picks out a lot of small particles? Pretty hard to get both in one package.

Yes the newer Delcos have a plastic cage in them BUT has anyone had one fail???? If not it seems to me it would allow better distribution across the filter element than the metal tube with a few holes drilled.

I use K&N on my spinon tranny filter because from all the research I did they were the lowest restriction. For the tranny was not worried about the finest filtering available, just wanted something with little restriction ans quality construction that will last a year. I was not worried about how fine it filtered because any spinon is miles ahead of the in pan screen.

On the engine I have little loyalty to a brand, in the past I have even run the Walmart brand since they are made by the same company that makes the Delcos. Had them apart and they are just fine construction wise.

10-30....the bypass and cold start did it I'm sure...but still. Its a pc. of crap

I may go to a reusable one like a system one. But I wouldn't put that on a street car....I think wix works fine for most. Other brands may be o.k. too but I will stick to them/napa I use them on al my trucks anyway

IMO the lack of a bypass at the filter adapter just causes more to bypass way down at the pump. I would rather feed the bearings unfiltered oil than reduce the volume they see. After all if there is debris big enough to cause damage getting through the bypass, then there are already BIG problems anyway.

The 061 does not have a bypass, like the 060... They are both 1 quart, hieght 5.178, OD 3.660, ID 13/16-16.....

Now the 794 is a 2 quart.. But probably to long and would hit the ground..

The 069 is 1 pint and original on the LT1, but most, like I, switched to the 060.......

you are referring to the anti-drainback... which isnt necessary to have on an upward mounted filter. Both the 51061 and 51060 work just fine. ive used both.
