If your going to go with the GM 847 I would get a good dual spring set up.(probably .600+)

With the GM 847 being so big and your going to have to rev it pretty high i would also throw in some new lifters. (comp r's)

You would probably see a 6-8 mph increase at the track in the 1/4. that also depends on what your tune and exhaust setup are.

Looking at cam cards for both the hot cam and 305 are almost identical only a 2 degrees more on both lobes and ramp rates are similar too.

How much gain can you get from stock heads and basic bolt-ons? (Like the ones I have)
I wouldn't install a new cam until you get headers first. Several people here have installed the hotcam and other similar cams and have not been happy with the results from them on the stock manifolds. You would probably see better results from a good set of headers first then you would from installing a cam on the stock manifolds.

I have the 224/230 Cmotorsports setup on stock heads (they suggested it) So, I'd go with cmotorsports on this one ONLY if emissions are not a real big issue.

Mines on a 111 LSA.

so 224/230 536/544 111 LSA

I'm really happy with it, just need to bump on rev limiter up to 6400 RPMs.

As mentioned earlier the Crane 210/224 workes extremely well with stock heads. That will be my next mod along with 1.6 RR. The torque curve of this cam is flat all the way across the graph with stock heads; there are folks running mid 11's with it.

I meant to say... "What kind of gains will you get WHEN all the bolt-ons have already been applied?" Like shorty headers, cat-back, etc.
With the hotcam kit, a good set of headers, full exhaust and the usual boltons it seems most average somewhere around 320rwhp. Depending on tuning and other factors some make more, some less.

Through the full exhaust mine did 340rwhp/337rwtq. Numbers below were through the open cutout/orp.

The question is... which emissions LEGAL cam is the best with a set of good flowing heads (260+cfm)?

Crane dynoed the 210/224 with an aluminum headed
LT1 in stock form (exhaust manifolds, etc.) and had
335 HP, a gain of 35 HP over the stock cam with 1.5s.
With 1.6s the gain was 40 HP. This was running through
a full exhaust. This was an engine dyno so you need to
deduct about 15% for rwhp.

If you just want to put in a cam and run everything else
stock, the 210/224 is a good choice. It was designed for
the LT1 in a stock configuration. Since I am sticking with
stock exhaust manifolds it's the best choice for me.

If you are going with headers and/or modified heads then
you should pick a more agressive cam.
