Custom ground comp cam just keep the lobe down and it will not shake the car as bad but also might hurt power some.

I have an XE 230/236 with a 112 LSA in my 383. Very streetable but you might want to look at something with a bit more LSA if you do a 200 shot.

Lots of folks are pleased with the CC306 in that application. Also check out the Comp Extreme Energy grinds (as Grip mentioned).

If you want a little lope, LT4 hot cam will be nice. Or if you want less lope, CC305 would be cool too. If not, maybe an XE 224ish cam.

I daily drive on my CC306 (still stock displacement though), and I get horrible gas milage, and it doesn't like crusing under 2000 rpm.

a 383 due to the larger displacement will actually lope less with a big cam then a 350 will, so you can go a bit larger without sacrificing driveability. I would look into one of the smaller comp grinds, especially something like the 218/224 which people seem to like. If you can get it on a 114 lobe, it will have even less lope and probably be better for an N2O shot.

You will likely be giving up some power compared to a bit larger cam though.

I just had my motor rebuilt and went with a comp. custom with 228/236 .533in .555ex on114* the car made 400rwhp with mac headers, a cat and a borla cat back with the solid plate sending everything through the muffler. Sounds good, but definately less lope than my cc306. Hope that helps.

I'd get something around the XE 230/236, but the 224/230 would be prolly *** smooth as stock in the 383. I'd stay away from the LT4 HOT cam...

if you do a search- most top guys are saying

short durration, high lift, strong valvetrain, light valvetrain, good heads.

200 shots and reliablity probobly aren't best friends either...

i suggest a nitrous grind if you plan on spraying
