Best Bang for my buck!

Ok, So I have $600 bucks to spend. I need new rear tires that hook. I am on stock salad shooters. I am trying to keep the v6 sleeper look. I need these few items before I can really race this season and get the full potential out of the car.

1. Driveshaft safety loop (Track required)
2. Drag Radial Type Tires
3. Exhaust that wont give me tickets during daily driving.

I was planning on the lakewood for the DS Loop($60 shipped), Purchasing the BFGoodRich Drag Radial 2's($300) and then Purchasing a 10' stick of 3" piping ($40 bucks), and 1 45 degree 3" ($30 bucks), 1 90 degree 3"($30 bucks) and a hooker aerochamber muffler ($120 shipped)

So this comes to a grand total of...

$580

So I have $20 bucks left over for beer to get me through the project. Does this sound about right?
I have my old exhaust setup which I can use as a guide on how to fab up me new 3". This will be fabbed from the Y-Pipe back.

I have a welder, grinder, sawzall etc to do the job. If anyone knows of a different exhaust setup that will allow me to keep my performance but also keep the sound down I am all ears. My old setup is a 2.5" exhaust setup from the Y-Pipe back. I had to do a lot of filler welding to make it work.

The tires are a good idea and if you got the fabrication skills, then it looks like you have the exhaust already taken care of. On a side note, the Magnaflow catback is quiet and shouldn't give you problems in daily driving.

Looks like a decent list to me, I would probably spring for the MT DR's instead of the BFG's tho. You can buy the Hooker catback for not much more then the custom fabbed exhaust you have planned, and it will bolt right up. Just something to think about.

Ya I like the idea of getting an already made hooker catback. Also the MT drag radials are a better buy for the track than the BFGs.

I live in Alaska so shipping is horendous. Shipping alone for the catback is 120 bucks. So that is out of the question. And same with the MT Drags. I would have to have them shipped up here as well.

That doesn't sound too far off, I paid a 127.00 to ship a cold air intake to Canada.

Re: Best Bang for my buck!

Well I purchased the 10' stick of 3", the hooker muffler and the safety loop. I also got a shop to weld that bend that goes over the axle for $12 dollars. I am having trouble fitting it to my current Y pipe. The clearances are super tight and the Y pipe outlet comes super close to the Driveshaft. I think in order to get my safety loop on there I am going to have to install it first and then install my exhaust. Right now I am just trying to get the mach up done and its a PITA!

Anyone else here do their own over the axle exhaust?
