best bang for buck mod?? also broken u joint??

i am very new to domestic v8 tuning. have owned a few turbo imports, anyways just wondering what kinds of mods offer the biggest bang for the dollar on a 94 Z m6. i have been doing lots of reading and searches and so far i have made a cai and will do the cags removal. any help for a newbie would be appreciated (i am already familiar w/ the search function). also, what are the symptoms of a broken u joint? i have loud clunking coming from rear in 1st and 2nd gear, not notice able in any other gear, and sometimes i can't hear it at all. guy at work said maybe u joint. any ideas??

A cutout is the best bang for your buck. $25 yields 10 to 20 RWHP gains.

is a cutout the same as a dumptube? also, where in the exhaust is the best place for the cutout (can it be placed after the cat for the environmentally concerned)? can the lt1 get up to stock ls1 hp w/ blot ons?

Yes the insult dog above has it right..............best bang for the buck is a cutout.........I'd also vote for a home fabbed CAI setup.

you hear a clunk? is it under you... do you hear it under heavy accelleration ? if you dont hear it unless you accellerate hard it sounds like a broken tranny mount
