What are the benifits of an upgraded K-member...performance wise?

performance wise is weight savings, another benefit is extra access to most everything from underneath the car, no more disappearing tools
more header clearance, more plug access etc. etc.

Are the weight savings that dramatic that they can improve 1/4 times? Less transfer? ETC ETC?

I've heard that a lot of the ones on the market now arent as strong as stock.. but this is 2nd hand info

Also certain after market K members won't fit with certain headers.

what is meant by "stronger"? they sure arent weaker

dunno about that but it worked fine with my Hooker LT's!
i would think if it will work with those then almost all others would be cake

As stated above the biggest advantage is weight savings. I will have to say that an aftermarket K-member is not as durable as a stock k-member. Especially when driven on bad roads like here in MI.
