Battery problems! Need help

just bought a new interstate battery for my car, and when the car sits for a week or even a couple of days the battery is dead, so the car is draining it from somewhere, what can i do to see whats killing the battery and where its coming from, i know i need a voltmeter to pinpoint the source, but dont know how to check for it, if somebody can help that would be great thanks chas

The first question is: did this happen before you got the new battery?

Batteries will go dead if not used. Driving around will not revive a battery that is completely drained.

Even new batteries can be bad.

First have the battery itself checked out, including making sure that the terminals are not loose in the case.
If the battery is good have electrical sytem checked to see if you have a drain.

I-State batteries are pretty good, so I've heard, but there are better batteries out there that might last longer when not used. JMHO

Mine did the same thing and it was as simple as the console lid not shut all the way and leaving the light on.
