battery connection

i know how stupid this may look but i am having the worst time trying to get my battery cable hooked to the battery. i have gotten my negative connected after a few tries. however i just cant get the positive one in. i thought that it might be the screw itself however i cant get it out of the rubber. i have the replacement ones i just cant get them in. it doesnt help that i am working in 0 degree weather. im just wondering if anyone has any tips for getting it in. thanks for the help

It should just push out of the holder. Maybe take a heater or a blow dryer or something and heat up the rubber piece to make it a bit more pliable for the removal of the old connector.
