Batt gauge bad??

I took my multimeter and measured my charge and it read 14.2 volts. My gauge read around 9-10. Could this be bad. The battery is 3 days old if that helps. BTW, what would go bad on a batt gauge and how would you replace it. Thanks.

Re: Batt gauge bad??

Where were you connecting your volt meter to get a reading? If you have corroded connections, or faulty wiring between the battery and the rest of the system, you may have good voltage at the battery, but you will lose voltage at the users.

I put the leads right on the terminals of the battery. Where is the sensor for the battery voltage?
