Barametric Pressure

Well, since I got my car it has been running very rich, I get 130 miles to a tank of gas even without flooring it. My car was scanned about a month ago on a Tech 2 scanner which read that the barametric pressure was higher then it should be. If I'm thinking correctly if the pressure was high it would spray more gas which means running rich. Anyone know how to lower this pressure? I've tried anything else it could be, plugs, wires, fuel filter. Thanks for any help.

Are you sure he said "barometric pressure" was higher than normal? Barometric pressure is a reading of the outside air pressure, read by the MAP sensor when you start up the engine. You can't change barometric pressure.... its whatever the weather, ambient conditions and your altitude says it is.

Are you sure he didn't indicate the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) was higher than normal? That would indicate a serious problem, and a higher than normal MAP reading can cause the PCM to assume the engine is under high load, and fuel it accordingly.

It was one of the two, some type of pressure. Would replacing the MAP sensor fix it either way? 130 miles per tank is starting to get bad especially with gas at $2 a gallon.
