Car would not start and now will....
I have a 93 Formula that has been converted to a 95 wiring harness. The car would not start this morning. It would turn over but acted like it got no spark or fuel. I checked the fuses, fuel pump and ignition coil. All were okay. I let the car sit for a few hours while contemplating about the optispark then tried to start the car. It started on the first try with no problems whatsoever.
Up until this time, the car was running fine. Never had problems starting. Now this happens....
Any ideas?

The next time you have the problem, turn the key off as soon as it doesn't fire up. Then go KOEO for 2 seconds. Then key off. Then KOEO for 2 seconds again. Do this cycling about 3 times. Then try to start it like normal. If that makes her start up easier, chances are good that the check ball is bad in the fuel pump and it is allowing the fuel to run back toward the tank. If that is the problem, a fuel pressure gage can detect it when the engine is shut down by showing if the pressure drops fast after it is shut off.
If that KOEO trick doesn't help, pull the vac line off the fuel pressure regulator and see if it's wet. If it is wet, replace the regulator. If it's dry, put a fuel pressure gage on the fuel rail and monitor how fast the pressure drops when the engine is shut off. If it drops fast then you have a dripping fuel injector and it is flooding the intake after the engine is shut off.
