Banjo bolts

Are these bolts really hard to remove/reinstall? I'm replacing heads and intake manifold and I want to do it myself but I want to be completely prepared to get everything in and out smoothly. Any special tool I should invest in? Anyway to get in there better? I felt around back there and it was kinda tight, just looking for some advice before I go in and start getting frusterated.
Thanks

You can use regular wrenches easily. Make sure to replace all four seals and don't overtighten them.

It's going to be pretty hard with the motor in the car, but you can do it.

The driver side is a lot easier than the passenger side. The problem on the passenger side is there is little room to get leverage to force them loose not to mention room to get a tool in there. The only thing that will really fit is a box end wrench.

I would suggest getting the driver side off then remove the passenger side head with the steam pipe still attached. Next thing would be to remove the two heads together steam pipe still attached. last resort cut the pipe.

These things are damn tight so be ready.

If you have to cut the pipe:
GM part number: 12556260
GMpartsdirect price: $42.19
That comes with all four seals and two new banjo bolts that are the new style with larger head so that wont round off so easy.

A 15mm gear wrench will be your best friend. Mine were not too hard to get out. The hard part was getting them lined up and started when I put everything back together. Took some patients and curse lubrication.

For reinstallation, would it be doable to attach the tubing to both heads and tighten, then with assistance, put it in the car fully assembled so thats one less thing I have to worry about?
