bang bang bang :(
I bought a starter from autozone. I'm having problems with it. I put it on with no shims and i can hear it banging against the flywheel ( I believe thats what the sound is). Well I put one shim on, then two, then three, and finally four shims and the same thing is happening
. Can someone help me out on this. Should I keep trying to put more shims on, or am I doing something wrong. It is really getting on my nerves now. Also if you have pics of your starter hooked up and unhooked can you post them.

Re: bang bang bang :(
i had a similar problem, but this was with my old blazer. anyway they gave me a starter for a differnet model blazer, might have been the 3 cyl. not for sure though. but anyway they could have possibly mixed soemthing up and gave u a v6 starter if they Are differnet then ours.
just a suggestion to look into
(EDIT: 4 CYLINDER, LMAO)

Re: bang bang bang :(
When you can insert the tip of a straightened paperclip between the tip of a starter tooth gear and the valley between two flywheel gear teeth, that'll be when you've got it shimmed enough.
