Bad results with LPE CAI

Well i took the Z to the track tonight and i put my friends LPE Cold Air Induction out of his Formula in it. My damn times were even slower. I was pissed. Im not going to waste my money on one of these damn things. At least not from LPE. It is extremely ugly and it hits my hood also. My hood is held up in one corner about 1/4 in. I know people have said they like them but from what ive seen tonight they are a joke. I was consistanly at least one tenth slower. I think my stock air box with holes cut in it flow just as good.

And yes the track conditions were the same is when i ran the 13.240.

Are you sure you didn't **** up installing it..my KN didnt' fit right and it put the MAF at a weird angle. So I went to the hardware store and got a different connector peice. I'd look into other things for the cause of the slower times, personally. I know my KN helped some and I beleive they are basically the same thing.

Fine!! Now get a hold of yerself. Yer most likely the only person on this board who Lost 10 freaking HP by switching to a less restrictive set up.

Now what are the chances in Mother Nature to have Two Identical days in a year? Same Humidity exact same temperature. Using the same gas, same reaction time, "same mileage in your car" etc etc etc. Ohh and the wind blowing in the exact same direction too....

Geeee. If it doesnt work for you then it doesnt...

Now calm down. No need to freak me up. I am already freaky enough!!!

Nawh Just kidding ya man. I am with you in how ugly those things are. Must guys love them. I guess I am just special or somezing . I always wondered how come some cars have the perfect fitting and some dont. Did GM change the dimensions on those cars?? What gives?

I am shocked too. I have heard great things about them. Now I run a g2 cold air so we talking a slight step up from stock, but enough for me and was super super cheap used.

Did u try putting the stock box in at the track and make some runs? Also as the gas runs out and the day gets cooler you'll run faster... There are mechanical issues that can affect your 1/4 time if its been awhile since your last trip the the dragstrip.

I got my morosso intake and i could tell it had more pull in the upper rpms once i put it on.

Ok so the track conditions probably werent exactly the same but the temperature was really close to the same. Close enought that i should have seen a gain and not a loss. (CORRECT?) No i didnt put the stock one back in at the track. It was enough of a pain in the *** to do it in my shop let alone doing it at the track in next thing to darkness. All i know is im glad It is my friends and i didnt pay 160.00 for it. When i go with my forged 383 kit and i have the engine out ill move that brake crap back some so i can fit a very functional, and cheap homemade CAI in there.

And im glad that someone agrees with me on how UGLY the LPE CAI really is. (Mentalcase)

There's other weather conditions to worry about other than temperature... refer to compstall's post.
