bad opti?
#16
injectors are a good probablity. on my first transam i had, it had a hesitation and stumble at idle. first thought it might be opti but decided to try an injector flush because it needed one do to mileage. cleared the problem right up and even increased milage a noticable amount.
What about just getting new injectors? It may be expensive, but how effective is injector cleaner?

You can check the resistance on each injector for starters. Should be about 14 ohms if I remember correctly (Haynes manual is a must! )
Also, check for a burnt spark plug wire. I had one that resembled a bad opti, and it took me forever to figure it out.
FYI for the coil question, on older cars the tach actually pulls the RPM signal from the low tension side of the coil. So a bad coil can actually throw off your tach.
Good luck with that stumble! I feel your pain
