Talking Back for the first time! new family member!

Long post......

What's up everyone! I'm here joining you guys once again with a 94 Z28 a4. (First one was stolen) I came across a high mileage 94 209k for a very good price. Trans is digging its grave right now (2-4 band is gone) The interior is clean inside and out, fresh black ext. with black/charcoal int. and t-tops. So now I'm focusing on my performance. So far I change all fluids, bought new front brake pads and rotors, and just bought some autolite 106 spark plugs that will be going in saturday.

Now here's a question....my last lt1 had 100k on it so I know there are a lot of miles between the two. They have the same 3.23 gears(both have selectable first) and both are 94's so there is no traction control. So before my current car tranny was slipping bad at WOT it felt way slower then my other car? It barely even chirp the tires from a stop, granted my last camaro had tires that were low tread 235's in the back.
Maybe breaking them loose is due to the slipping tranny but the overall feel between the two?

So I started thinking that maybe its the opti, plugs, or o2 sensors? So in the next week or so plugs and sensors will be in but, I'm trying to hold off on the opti if I can. Do u thinking there's something else I should do? I have no ses lights and it idle fine around 650-700 never really felt a miss.

I plan on doing some breathing mods to see if this solves the problem.(rpms seems to climb up a little slow, maybe its me?) Starting cheap with ebay cai, hooker lt's, and a cut-out. Sorry for such the long post. I'm just looking for guidance from people here that's been down this road before. I'm fairly new to american cars as a whole. My last one I only had for 2 months, and I'm going on my thrid with this one. Thanks everyone! Nice to be here......

hey there, well sorry to tell you but my advice to to get a newer engine and tranny or rebuild the one you got, i have 173,000 miles on mine, and i am going to get it rebuilt. I wouldnt change anything else until you know you have got a good engine. especially the opti and expensive **** like that, if it doesnt need replaced yet, why bother, trust me your car is going to get to your wallet no matter what. so start with the engine! lol I really dont know how bad it is, but thats what i would do.

Really? Well I do plan on rebuilding the motor but that wouldn't be for a good while. Well it seems like the engine is in good condition. No wierd noises or anything like that. Will a compression test tell me what kinda condition the motor is in? Does 2k sound about right for a engine rebuild?
