I have a Autometer water temp gauge with their electric sending unit. I was wondering if the wire going to the Autometer sending unit can be spliced into one of the wires on the stock sending unit instead? Hope I didn't confuse anyone.

Nope, can't do that. If you did, neither gauge would read properly. You need to install the sensor that came with your gauge.
