If I have recently replaced my alternator and re wired the one wire that engages the charge coming off the alternator to the positive side of the battery making it stay engaged (suggested by autozone tech) is there a possibility that the new alternator is bad causing a drop in voltage to the computer eventually causing sensors to fail or be mis read and ultimately causing a shifting issue..because the gauges either aren't working correctly or suddenly I have low engine oil pressure no battery voltage and I'm consistently on the verge of overheating while driving...

Thread originator hasn't returned to this site since 2006. Hopefully he figured it out 19 years ago when he first posted this.

Are you unable to put the correct alternator on that can be hooked up correctly? Voltage issues or using the wrong alternator can cause things to work incorrectly. I dont know exactly why someone suggested you do that but I would attempt to go back to as close to factory as possible.
