ATI Dampner and Front Seal
ATI Dampner and Front Seal
Its been a long time since I've pulled the blower and crank pulley and seen the timing cover. I have an ati dampner and the front seal in the timing cover has been leaking pretty bad as of late. Can I just replace the seal or are there more seals behind the timing cover that need replaced also. Its been about five years since I been in there and I can't remember what it looks like.
And does the ati need a different seal? The old seal had slightly worn two lines in the black coating on the hub and I was wondering if a smaller/tighter seal was available.
I hope I dont have to pull the timing cover. I think part of the leakage was due to lack of sufficient crankcase ventilation and I have replaced the oil fill with a beather.

Re: ATI Dampner and Front Seal
The wear is normal.
If ya can get the seal out without tearing it up too bad ya can take it and go to a seal and bearing supply and get a Chicago Rawhide seal that will stop the leak.
Take the balancer hub with ya too so they can size it.
