ASAP Can I run without Rear Sway Bar?

Thinking of taking my car to the track today to do some datalogging shake down runs. Do you guys think its dangerous to run it without a rear sway bar?

Your going to twist the chassis. The rear sway bar is one of the things keeping the body from torquing hard in response to driveshaft twist. The rear bar helps keep it level. If you have a front bar, it will help, but if you are missing both, I think you are going to twist the chassis and have a very unpredictable ride... its gonna pull very hard to one side on the launch, lifting the left front wheel off the pavement, and squatting down on the right rear wheel.... difficult to control. An airbag in the right rear spring would help a bit, or a very stiff setting on a drag shock.

If you decide to run that way, make a couple easy passes to get a feel for it, and do not try and drive through it if it gets squirrly.

Re: ASAP Can I run without Rear Sway Bar?

Thank you both, Injuneer, and 1racerdude, for the fast and prompt responses. I guess it was not meant to be, our local track is closed today for a NASCAR event this comming weekend. On a side note, I currently have a 1le front sway bar, and no rear sway bar, because I sold my BMR extreme duty rear sway, because it was overkill for my daily driver. What do you guys reccomend as far as a good rear sway bar for drag and daily use? What size, and who can I purchase from? Thanks gentleman..

Put a stock one back in from the junk yard, unless ya figuring on some 1.2-1.3 60' then ya need one from Chassis Engineering

I ran the stock sway bar and an airbag for 1.6 60-fts..... you really don't need too much more. Have switched to the Spohn "drag" rear sway bar to handle the 300-shot off the line... I expect it will help.
