Arrived at crossroads of ideas
Arrived at crossroads of ideas
I need some opinions on what I should do next. I've got 3 ideas in front of me that will pretty much designate where I go with my car for the next 4 years. I've got a 96 Z28 with 107,000 miles on the clock. I've already done the worthwile bolt ons (see sig)
Option 1:
Head/cam package.
I've got a CC306 sitting under my bed right now and have a deal in the works for heads that flow identical to LE2's and all the associated valvetrain parts/extras for $1200. I haven't paid yet, but the deal is on the table.
Option 2:
Ultra Z hood & ZR1's. Clear coat on my hood is just starting to separate, looks like the guy I bought it from got the El Ceapo Maaco job right before I gought it.
Option 3:
Save up over the summer and buy an LS1. I figure if I get a job this summer I'll have about enough money (savings, sale of car, money from job) to buy a mid-higher mileage LS1.
I guess ya'll can kind of tell the pro/cons of each. The only reason I'm hesitant just to get the LS1 is because I've put so much time and money into the current car, it seems silly just to sell it after only having it 9 months. I know almost nothing about the history of my car. But I would love an SS or Firehawk, something truly ledgendary like that. Let me know what you think.
BTW, I'm starting college next year, so the mod money is going to be tight for the next 4 years.

Yah, the T/A LS1 cars i think look great - but i prefer the LT1 camaro to the LS1 camaro. So I say keep it. Plus you are probably only going to get around $5,500-$6,000 for your car.

Re: Arrived at crossroads of ideas
Why not just ditch the heads, install the cam, get the wheels and/or hood and call it a day? Then youd end up with a car that looks good, sounds good and will outrun a stock cam'd LS1 all within your budget.
Re: Arrived at crossroads of ideas
I would do the heads and cam, then the money saved from not buying a LS1 use for the wheels and hood as well as all the other upgrades you will need after the H/C.
