Architecture of AC Delete?
Gday guys
dropped my '95 LT1 in the hole of the offroader Im building (finally), and the ac pump is too close to the steering pump for comfort. Im looking at the ac delete pulley but am just wondering if that is gonna increase the clearnace on the right side? It looks smaller but apparently it uses the same belt, can anyone comment on whether this will slim down that part of my belt system? Thanks in advance. Matt

The pulley on the ac delete is smaller than the compressor pulley but it is shiffted to the left also. I had to change my belt with one thats about 3/8" shorter for a perfect fit. I'm also using march crank pulley and mba alternater overdrive pulley and my belt is 1490 mm.

I took a 1LE bracket and flipped it around and then cut off the part that had the bolt hole with nothing to bolt to. I was able to pass a 3" downpipe from a turbo thru that area. I needed a little more than 3" shorter belt as well.

It's the 5th pic down. Works really well with no belt rubbing issues at all.

Are you keeping the power steering in your "offroader"? If not, you might be able to use the relocation bracket that Madman and/or SJM Manufacturing sell for moving the alternator to the bottom of the engine. That way, you shouldn't even need the front accessory bracket.

Thanks smoknz, that is exactly what Im after. Im assuming youve had no issues with reduced strength of the modified bracket? Injuneer, yes Im retaining the powersteer on my 'offroader'. My 'offroader' is actually a heavily modified Toyota Landcruiser and Im using the chevy ps unit not the Toyota one. I didnt specify exactly what my 'offroader' was since everyone around here seems to hate 'ricers' and I was keen for some positive input on my project.
