Anyone get their AP Engineering shortblock yet?

Just curious?
What did you think of the build?
And the Quality?
I haven't gotten mine yet so I was just wondering.

No, I haven't got mine yet either. I called about two weeks ago, and they said around another month or so. They also mentioned they were build like 30 engines from their GP. But please keep me informed also.......John

I got one from them about this time last year. Build quality seemed pretty good, customer service was great, but sadly, due to still unknown issues, I haven't gotten the car running 100%. It took about 5 weeks for me to get my motor last year.

Re: Anyone get there AP Engineering shortblock yet?

Having been involved at the other end I can say this - the more time you keep the guy on the phone and answering emails, the longer it will take to get the work done. IF it is a legit shop (and I have no opinion on that one way or the other) I'd advise just being patient. Building hi-po stuff takes time, and parts suppliers are often the holdup. Especially when you have specificed very specific parts and don't want any substituted. This time of year, getting a motor built just always seems to take longer than it should. Both because at the builder/supplier end, shops are all at their busiest and on the buyer end, you are itchy to get the car ready.

Looks like everyone can kiss there money goodbye. It sure seems like they are just taking in all money but not shipping readily available items either.

Re: Anyone get there AP Engineering shortblock yet?

I haven't given up hope yet.
I've been working with Nick and he has been pretty good about keeping me informed as of late.

I just can't get it through my head why Chris (the owner) won't respond to e-mails.

As I must have explained to everyone in that shop by now. They are making my vacation crappy. I'm going down to Ocean City, MD for a car show with out a car to show.
I thought ordering it in Feb would give me enough time to break it in and dyno tune it.
Oh well I guess I'll just have more drinking time now.

I want to give APE the benefit of the doubt but it just keeps getting harder and harder.

Re: Anyone get there AP Engineering shortblock yet?

This is not tech related and I don't talk about it much, but I had a terrible experience with APE. There are companies that I would recomend to anyone (some in the sig) and then there are companies like APE that I wouldn't pass on to my worst enemies.

-Missed deadlines
-Wrong parts
-Billing Issues
-Return Issues

I had it all when I bought my parts for my entire bottom end from them. I assumed I had a one off (nightmare) experience with them, but after reading those posts I see that many others have lived the same thing. When I spend THOUSANDS of dollars with a company, I expect a certian amount of courtesy and contact.

My experience with APE (and Diamond pistons to an extent) was TERRIBLE. I won't bore anyone with details, but I say good ridence to them and Good luck to those people that are having problems.
