Anyone running LE2 heads with LE1 cam?

I am trying to decide if its worth it to go LE2 heads over the LE1 heads. Llyod claims around and additional 10RWHP or so. That comes out to $550 for that gain.

I will definitely stick to the LE1 cam because I dont want to rev over 6200 RPM.

Anyone running this set up or does anyone want to comment on whether its worth it.

Thanks

The LE2 heads have better parts, that's why they cost more. Better springs and valves are the biggies. Those parts allow you to run better cams, like the LE1-High Lift (.050" more lift), the LE1.5 or the LE2 cam. The porting alone is going to get you at least 10hp, the combination of the parts is what allows you to gain 25hp or more.

The LE2 springs are beehives and they are more durable and better quality than the LE1 springs (CM612) so it's one of those cases where you get what you pay for. You can always go in the middle and do a LE1 head with stock valves and beehive springs, matched to the LE1.5 or the LE1-HL cam and that would probably be the most durable and best output for the least money.

I think it's worth it. I was thinking about upgrading to the LE2 heads w/ the extra set I have, but never followed through. Now I have another project car so my Z28 is safe for now. If it were me and I had the extra money in the budget I would get the heads.

There's no such thing as too much head

Well I have heard gains of 10HP and gains of 25HP. If the number is truly closer to 25HP I see it as being worth it.

I understand that the LE2 heads have better robust parts, thats always a plus.

That is the combo that is going in my car . The only difference is the cam , I have the emissions version . Which is not that much smaller than the regular LE1 cam . Right now the short block is at the machine shop . If I can get this running and sorted out by Labor day weekend I am going straight to the track with it . The local track is having a Muscle Car shootout . As long as it is American and can be considered a Muscle car your good to go.
