I have the 190 CC street cnc job AFRs on my 383 it runs real good but I am going to have them ported to get more. The machine shop that did my block work flowed my heads for me and they hit 254 cfm @ .550 lift . Before I had the 383 I had them on a 350 with 6 inch rods, forged pistons and a cc305 cam (11:1 comp) and it trapped at 113 best and ran low 12s (all at around 1200 ft ele). I would like to bolt a set of 210s on my motor to see how much more it does, or should i just have the 190s ported good with a vj?

I've got a set of AFR 220's on order for my motor. Hopefully when they come in at Thunder Racing we'll see some good numbers out of them. I ordered the full Competition set.

I just realized, engineermike, that you and I have talked before at the track. I believe I was there when you made those 11.0 passes in your 3rd gen. I was telling you that I was gonna try to beat that 121 mph that night in my '87 Turbo Buick. Well, never did it. Went 11.1 @ 120 @ 21 lbs of boost. I remember back then being amazed at the times you were getting out of that car w/ the hydraulic cam and fairly mild setup. I see based on your sig that you have upgraded!

Personally, I'd get the Race Ready's, then have a QUALITY valve job performed and blended into the bowls and chamber. A shop will typically charge $250 - $300 for this work and they should pick up 10 - 15 cfm throughout the range. The AFR valve job isn't great.

Ditto on the AFR valve job. I bought my AFR's as a street 195cc casting. Out of the box here are the intake flows before and after a valve job.

.1 68/77
.2 129/143
.3 186/197
.4 233/235
.5 253/260
.6 261/261
.7 263/267
.8 264/268

At low lift, the valve job was worth over 10cfm.

I remember you! That's been a while back, huh?

Those Competition 220's will really flow well. They have flowed 210 Competitions and 220 Race Ready's and they both did 290+ cfm out the box. Yours should get close to 300.

About the car upgrade, I figured that if I could run 11.0 at 122.7 mph with a 383 and 210's NA, then it would really haul if I had a 383, 210's, and 12# boost.
