and also, what is the sensor on top of the intake right after the throttle body... it is black?

hey SHOEBOX... see if you know what this might be....
little black box right by the throttle body on the right side of it. has 2 spots for hoses to come out of it. not exactly sure what it is and am i searching your page to see if you have a pic of it...

I guess you meant right side while standing in front of the engine. RH and LH mean passenger and driver's sides respectively, to me.

Maybe the accelerator cable bracket cover? The "hoses" are cables.

 

ok shoebox.. in that picture, it would be in the bottom left hand corner of it. maybe a lil further more left and down.

 

See my avatar of a 1957 Chevy? That's where it comes from. 55-57s (and early Chevy II/Novas) sometimes are called "shoeboxes", because of their shape.

Sometimes I forget that my first car was a 62 Chevy II with a 4 cylinder (the first Iron Duke ), but my second car was 1957 Chevy and I still have it. It has been a garage fixture for many years, but I will never sell it. Purchased in 1971 for a total sum of $165.00 , in good stock running order with a 6 cylinder (the old Blue Flame Six).

 

If your car has had the AIR pump recall done, you would have the valve (#2) mounted on one of the coil studs.

Mine does not have one, because I would never take it to the dealer to let them do the recall.
