Exclamation anyone ever notice if their alt. pulley has a slight wobble in it?

well i have done a few changes to the car this year. one being i have relocated the alternator and am now running a very short 6 rib belt off of the hub. no more tensioner or p.strg.

well i am chewing up the front of the belt on the outer most rib. at first i noticed the new bracket flexing due to the design. made it stronger (thanks ROB ) and took the flex out of the setup, but still it chewed up the belt after i flipped the good side to the front to see if it would hold up. i pulled the assembly off lastnight and noticed that when i spun the alt. pulley freely by hand it wobbled a fair bit, by a fair bit i would have to say about .060-.080" . i am wondering if this is contributing to the deterioation of the belt or not. i can only imagine with the serpentine used previously that it might have been more forgiving. i must also verify that the alt. pulley and harmonic balancer are in fact lined up perfectly. i did a quick and crudecheck with a flat surface laying across both surfaces, it seems ok. but i will have to give it a bit more attention before i am convinced it is actually lining up correctly. i am going to swap another pulley from a friends alt. onto mine and spin it to see if there is truly a problem or not.. i can't imagine the shaft is bent, and there doesn't seem to be any play in from inside the alternator.

tia for any of your feedback.
