I just dug this thread up, Im putting a rollbar and 5points in and wont be needing airbags anymore. But in the past I called Grant and they say you cant put aftermarket on airbagged cars, but obviously you can. What mounting kit do you need for our cars, and does anyone have the "no steering wheel" security thing, sounds kinda nice. And, if anyone has removed passenger bag, whats involved in that?

As noted in my PM to you... use the Grant 3rd Gen kit.

Interesting steering wheels

Haha, think Ill get one of those wheels, what about $5000, sure no prob. Those are badass though, looks to me like they are the same as in F1 cars. Are they compatible with OBD1

Go aftermarket get a Grant. My Grant steering wheel saved my Leg. It broke apart durring impact. If I kept the Stocker with the lousy air bag I'd be f**cked. however if you don't have an airbag it be wise to upgrade your other saftety equipment.

Question

I found a Grant Formula 1 steering wheel on an old cavalier at the junkyard for $10. It's like new and $100 in JEG'S!

My question is: What if I get into an accident and my insurance finds out I took my driver's side airbag off and the pass. side was disabled also? Will they compensate still? Did anyone talk to there Ins. company about or before changing steering wheels?

Any other laws about this?

Besides Injuneers steering wheel, does anyone know of any other grey steering wheels to match our interior?

Has anyone seen or installed a Momo Silverjet wheel? I like the looks, but i haven't seen one in person to decide how it would look with the charcoal interior.

Well, I dont think that Fred (Injuneer) was worried about matching his interior since it is track duty only, but Grant makes a ****ton of steering wheels, and each model in different colors, check out their website im sure they have somethin for ya, and anybody thinking about doing this without at least a rollbar and 5point SFI harnesses should reconsider.

I dont think that the airbags are suppost deploy in a roll, so why the roll cage?

5 point harness-agreed.

Roll bar/cage doesnt just protect you from a roll, I dont see our cars rolling very easily, they protect more from all angles of being hit, plus it is much safer to have a 5point attached to the crossbar of a rollcage then the floor. Just added safety since no airbags no more.
