Smile Anybody tried this: ACCEL 94-97 LT-1 OPTI SPARK DISTRIBUTOR #59125

Is this product below any good, as they claim? I ask, because GM charges a lot more for the same thing. Any help would be appreciated, as I'm a layman when it comes to what's a good product for my LT1, & whats not!

Do a search on it......I havent heard too many good things about it. ACCEL in general doesn't make anything good for the LT1's, so I doubt that piece of complicated engineering is any different! LOL

What year is your car? Won't work on 93 or 94 F-Bodys.

Genuine GM replacements are a lot less expensive than dealer prices at these two sources (courtesy of Shoebox):

Well that's a pretty generalized statement. FWIW I've had no issues with my Accel 300+ ignition system for the LT1, and would have no trouble putting an Accel opti in either of my cars if only to test it, given that it's considerably cheaper than the GM units. Just because you see people griping about something doesn't mean that there's not others out there who are completely happy with how said product performs (fuel injectors aside.......I've seen enough failed Accel injectors to keep me far far away from them. )

LOL I hear what you're saying and there's no flaming meant.....BUT I personally have had bad experience with their wires, coils, and a friend had problems with the injectors (no surprise there! ) AND the 300+ ignition! So, maybe I have heard about and experienced all the defective parts that ACCEL has produced.......or maybe you got lucky with your one piece! If you do a search though, I read quite a few posts/threads on this board and others saying to stay away from the ACCEL opti.....just my .02! Peace.

BTW where is Sicklerville? South western Jersey? I live right by Sandy Hook & Red Bank area....

Sicklerville is down on the A/C Expressway on the very first exit south of the 42 Split.

I haven't tried searching around for the Accel opti. I'm going to look into it though as it was a thought for an upgrade at some point. Preciate' the heads up.

it's gotta be better than the MSD unit. and anything that's not stock should be better than that too. when i replace mine i'm going with the accel unit. the stock unit has bearing/leaking issues and the msd unit has a bad rotor issue...the accel has a bad rep issue...who else is out there that makes them???

BTW, i've had no problems with their stuff and i've run their 30lb injectors fine...ignition stuff is great.
