Anybody ever hear of Electromotive ignitions?
Anybody ever hear of Electromotive ignitions?
This guy was trying to sell me this ignition. He claims it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Hard to trust a salesman. Anyway, anyone ever heard of this ignition?

Do a search. I believe Injuneer use to run an Electromotive setup that was suppose to eliminate the opti or something along those lines.

They are a very good aftermarket ECU. I find them to be better (more versatile, easier to tune, better support) than the more often mentioned moderate price competition, though one step below the much more expensive Motec. I am converting my race car to EFI and have one ready to install.
What kind of project do you have in mind?

The electromotive opti-eliminator? I had two ... the first was the f-body prototype on my '93 Trans Am. Worked pretty well ... no serious complaints, but I had the external tach output die (no biggie), and starting the car takes a few extra revolutions to allow for the pickup wheel to sync. Bought another electromotive several years later for my '94, and to be honest, it wouldn't run as well as a good optispark. The system was designed around the '92 Corvette LT1 (which uses a batch fire pcm) and was never revised for the '94+ sequential pcms. The opti-eliminator works great on the 93 f-body, but on a '94+, injector phasing problems make your car run a little rough.
With all the new distributorless systems out there, the electromotive opti-eliminator would be my last choice. The LTCC/delteq won't give you the injector phasing problems or the slow starts, and using the optical pickup and wheel inside the opti is just as good (or better) than the wheel and pickup that comes with the electromotive. It's not a hard job, but there is a bit of work to get the electromotive wheel and sensor mounted and setup correctly on the crank.
