ignition stressing me out

Hey im new here and i decided to join because i been having an ignition problem with my 02 z28. It all started two weeks ago when i inserted the key and turned it, but the ignition switch was loose. So i had to tow it back to my house. I took the steering wheel off and fixed the problem, it was the actuator rack that wasnt in the notch. So i put it back together, but now the car doesnt crank to turn on. But the lights in dash go on and so does the stereo when i turn it on i just hear a little click. I really would apreciate for some opinions or answers.

Re: ignition stressing me out

What exactly was loose - the key cylinder, the ignition switch (which is further down the steering column) or the rod that connects the two?

Does the "SECURITY" light come on?

See if this helps - it's for an earlier year, but the concepts are all the same:
