Any reason I couldn't "T" off the factory water sender???

I'm getting ready to install my water temp guage. I know on the driverside is the factory water temp sender. Is there any reason why I couldn't fab up a Tee and also hook my guage sender there. I have been told there is a replica port on the passenger side but I can't for the life of me, find it. I teed off my oil feed to my supercharger for my oil pressure gauge and all is well. Just hadn't heard of anyone else doing this. In the instructions it states the sender must be in the path of the water, but I'm sure water would get to it from the tee.

Any help or alternative locations for water temp besided the front of the water pump ( no room due to supercharger and fans)

Thanks
Adam

I would use the one on the pass head

if you can't find it, just so you know, both heads are the same, so on the pass side it is between the rear 2 exhaust ports

Crap! I was looking between the front 2 ports. Your saying I need to go farther toward the firewall.

Thanks

IMO, there is no reason you could not tee off the driver's side head.

Except of course for the fact that when you use a single sensor, it's stuck right into the water flow, but if you use a "T", the sensors are stuck at a dead end after two 90-degree turns. Here; there is no water circulation, but plenty of opportunity to get a highly inaccurate reading because the "T" acts as a heat sink, insuring that the water temp in the ends of the "T" are substantially lower than the temp of the water in the head.

The heads are identical..... hence with the head mounted on the driver's side, the temp sensor port is between the #1/#3 plugs. When you mount the same head on the passenger side, the port (with a plug in it) is located between the #6/#8 plugs.

I wouldn't "tee" into the port... the sensors aren't going to read the correct temps, being mounted external to the head. I PM'd you with pictures of how I added a 2nd temp sensor to mine.

You can see where the plug is in this picture, where the gold colored fitting is next to the dipstick. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/buds93...0c.jpg&.src=ph
Use an 8 mm drain plug socket and a breaker bar to get that plug out of the head. Its pretty tight.

That plug looks much larger then my 1/8" sender. Will I need an adaptor?

Thanks

yes, the hole is 3/8 npt, your sender sounds like it is 1/8 npt, any hardware store should have the adapter

I guess that is true (not the same if you are like reading oil pressure). Keeping it in the water flow would be best, either in the other head or like what Injuneer did, splicing a sensor into a hose.
