Alt problem?
Alt problem?
I noticed the other day sitting in my car...i have a UD pulley so i was waiting for it to warm up reving it a few 100 rpms and watching the volt gauge move.
so I give it a rev up to uhh say 2500 or around there...and as the tach is falling the volt guage dips for a millisecond and the dash lights actually dimmed in sync with it.
every time i reved it up as the rpms where falling it would do it at the exact same spot every time say 1500rpms. It can't be just the gauge since my dash lights dimmed as well.
car runs fine...charges fine...everything is ok, but thats just a little werid, is this a sign of something ready to take a hike?

Re: Alt problem?
UD pully, as in the alternator is getting underdriven due to the UD pully?
I would personally get a volt meter out and see what your actual voltage is when you problem occurs. Good luck

Re: Alt problem?
i have free scan so i could log the voltage from the ECU, but other then that im going to need to hunt down a analog meter cause there is no way my digital is going to pick up a quick bump like that.
Re: Alt problem?
well of course the ligths dim when its at full idle, but im talking about when i rev up to 2500 or so.....on the way back down it will pass this spot where it bumps for a split second....I think its around 1500 or so. the guage just dips for a split second and dash will dim then its back to normal untill it gets to 600 or whatever and its just normally dim.
